Welcome back, Komets! Today, we have the second addition of our Staff Spotlight. Read below to learn more about our awesome DMD teacher Ms. Murray.

Among the many talented educators at Kearny, one of the most well-known is Ms Sarah Murray. Most students will have her English class for at least one year, and many others will shine under her tutelage of ASB. But how well do you know Ms Murray? Where she came from, her favorite subjects, even why she pursued education: all these and more are answered in this shocking new article.
When asked about why she decided to pursue education as a career, Ms Murray said that she “...decided to pursue education because I wanted a career that I could be proud of. High school was a very challenging time in my life, and I had a few teachers who really impacted me in a positive way.” She also added that if she “...can make a small positive change in anyone's day, I feel like I have purpose.”
Education, however, was not always Ms Murray's plan for the future, as she stated that “For a long time I considered opening a bar and restaurant. I really love culinary creativity.” Teaching also isn't the only interest she’s currently pursuing, as she is also reportedly writing a novel. Perhaps one day students will be analyzing the themes of her works along with the likes of Orwell and Fitzgerald.
Another question readers might be interested in is “What else might Ms Murray want to teach?” And I’m glad to inform you all that WE HAVE THE ANSWERS! When asked that very same question, she responded “I would like to teach a course on World History through Fashion. I have a passion for studying historical clothing, and I think it is fascinating how styles change during revolutionary time periods in different countries.”
Finally, when asked her favorite grade to teach, Ms Murray said that “There are exciting and challenging aspects for every grade. Right now I'm really enjoying teaching Seniors because I feel like we can have very rich conversations about complex subjects.”
Interviewing Ms Murray was an enlightening look into the mind of an educator, and I hope you enjoyed reading my account of it.
